เปิดตัว Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic เกมผู้สืบทอดตำนาน Knight of the Old Republic

Casey Hudson อดีตผู้จัดการสตูดิโอ BioWare ที่ ลาออกในปี 2020 เปิดตัวเกมใหม่ Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic (FOTOR) ที่เป็นผู้สืบทอดทางจิตวิญญาณ (spiritual successor) ของเกม Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) อันโด่งดังของ BioWare ในอดีต

หลังออกจาก BioWare แล้ว Hudson ไปตั้งสตูดิโอใหม่ชื่อ แต่ไม่ประสบความสำเร็จ ปิดตัวไปในปี 2024 รอบนี้เขามาพร้อมกับสตูดิโอใหม่ Arcanaut Studios ที่ดึงเอาอดีตทีมงานเก่าบางคนมาด้วย และมีผลงานเกมแรกคือเกม Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic นี้เอง

Hudson ระบุว่า FOTOR เป็นเกม RPG แบบเล่นคนเดียว เน้นการเล่าเรื่อง (narrative-driven) ข้อมูลของเกมยังมีน้อยมาก ในเทรลเลอร์แรกเป็นการโชว์โลกของเกมที่มียานอวกาศ และตัวเอกเป็นเจไดผู้หญิง

เกมระบุว่าจะลงทั้งพีซีและคอนโซล ใช้เอนจิน Unreal Engine 5 แต่ยังไม่ประกาศวันวางขาย
