Gearbox Entertainment ประกาศวันวางขายเกม Borderlands 4 ใหม่ เลื่อนมาขายเร็วขึ้น 2 สัปดาห์ จากเดิม 23 กันยายน 2025 เปลี่ยนเป็น 12 กันยายน 2025

การเลื่อนวันวางขายของ Borderlands 4 ถูกวิจารณ์ว่าเป็นเพราะ Marathon ของ Bungie ประกาศวันขายชนกัน 23 กันยายน แต่ Randy Pitchford ซีอีโอและผู้ก่อตั้ง Gearbox ก็โพสต์ยืนยันว่าเป็นเพราะมั่นใจในคุณภาพของเกมแล้วว่าจะไม่มีบั๊ก การเลือกวันขายเกมนั้นไม่ได้สนใจปัจจัยเรื่องเกมคู่แข่งเลย

เกมซีรีส์ Borderlands มียอดขายรวมทุกภาคสูงถึง 77 ล้านชุด โดยเกมขายดีที่สุดคือภาค 2 (2012) ทำไว้ 26 ล้านชุด ตามด้วยภาค 3 (2019) ที่ 18 ล้านชุด
