There has been a further delay to the release of 4.0.2 and we felt an explanation to our customers for this delay is in order. Ultimately the release dates are almost always an estimate and we do our best based on the information and resources we have at the time of when we’ll be done with the current fixes. However, continuous improvement is something we constantly strive for and, as a result, we are currently re-evaluating our process to make it better. Even the best process will sometimes force us to make hard decisions between meeting schedules and meeting the product goals. I wanted to chime in and let people know that we are working on fixing bugs in the 3.8.x series for 3.8.5. Based on our current progress we are looking forward to releasing 3.8.5 in early March. With the release of vB4 Forums and Publishing Suite please note the following information regarding support for older versions of vB: 3.8.x: Supported and updated for bugs and security fixes. 3.7.x: No longer supported and will only be updated for security fixes. 3.6.x and earlier: These versions are end–of-life and are no longer supported or updated. vBulletin 3.6 and 3.7 are now End-of-Life

An exploit in our input validation has recently been discovered. This could allow a brute force attack to comprise and spoof input data for a given user. To resolve this issue, it is necessary to release a patch level version of the active versions of vBulletin. The upgrade process is the same as previous patch level releases - simply download the patch from the Members Area, extract the files and upload to your webserver, overwriting the existing files. There is no upgrade script required. As with all security-based releases, we recommend that all customers upgrade as soon as possible in order to prevent any potential damage resulting from the flaw being exploited.
