ถึงแม้ Windows 11 ใช้แกนภายในตัวเดียวกับ Windows 10 แต่ก็มี shell บางส่วนที่แตกต่างกัน จุดสำคัญคือ Start Menu และ Taskbar แบบใหม่ที่เป็นคนละโปรแกรมกันเลย

ที่ผ่านมา ผู้ใช้ Windows 11 มีวิธีเรียก Taskbar ตัวเดิมของ Windows 10 กลับมาใช้งานได้ เพราะไมโครซอฟท์แค่ซ่อนไว้เฉยๆ เท่านั้น แต่ล่าสุดมีคนค้นพบว่าใน Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26002 (Canary Channel) ไมโครซอฟท์ปิดไม่ให้ใช้งาน Taskbar ตัวเดิมแล้ว โดยมีการตั้งค่าแบบใหม่ชื่อ DisableWin10Taskbar เพิ่มเข้ามาในระบบ

การเปลี่ยนแปลงนี้ทำให้แอพบางตัวที่เรียก Taskbar เก่า (เช่น ExplorerPatcher หรือ StartAllBack) ไม่สามารถใช้งานได้ หากลองดูจะพบว่า explorer.exe แครช หรือกลายเป็นเรียก Taskbar ของ Windows 11 ขึ้นมาแทน ดังนั้นหากต้องการใช้ Taskbar แบบดั้งเดิม ทางออกจึงเหลือเพียงการใช้แอพใหม่ที่เลียนแบบของเก่าอย่าง Start11 เท่านั้น
