จากกรณี มิกกี้เมาส์เวอร์ชันแรกกลายเป็นสาธารณสมบัติแล้ว หลังลิขสิทธิ์หมดอายุเมื่อ 1 มกราคม 2024

ทางค่ายคู่แข่ง Warner Bros. Discovery เจ้าของบริการสตรีมมิ่ง HBO Max ก็ "ลองของ" ด้วยการให้รายการทอล์คโชว์ Last Week Tonight ที่มีพิธีกรชื่อดัง John Oliver นำคาแรกเตอร์เจ้าหนู Steamboat Willie (มิกกี้เมาส์เวอร์ชันแรก) มาออกในรายการ พร้อมพาดหัวด้วยว่า "พวกเขา (Disney) จะฟ้องไหม"

รายการตอนนี้ออนแอร์ไปแล้วตั้งแต่วันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ แต่ทาง HBO ยังไม่เผยแพร่คลิปรายการในตอนนี้ เพื่อดึงให้คนที่อยากดูต้องไปดูบน HBO Max เท่านั้น
