vBulletin 6.2.4 Changes and Updates
vBulletin 6.2.4 is now available for download. vBulletin Cloud
customers can expect their sites to be updated within the next two
weeks.
Admin Control Panel Cleanup
Further enhancements to the AdminCP have updated more of the codebase
with current standards, eliminated inline JavaScript, removed the
final remnants of the YUI library, and optimized layouts through the
removal of redundant code.
User Table Cleanup
Several columns and bitfield options have been removed from the user
table in the database. These fields were obsolete and had not been
utilized by the software for an extended period. Corresponding
configuration controls in the AdminCP have also been eliminated. This
change includes:
daysprune, friendcount, friendreacount, isfriend, pmboxwarning
(bitfield), pmdefaultsavecopy (bitfield), pmfolders, profilevisits,
receivefriendemailrequest (bitfield), showvbcode, vbasset_enable
(bitfield), vbcode (bitfield), vbcode_standard (bitfield),
vbcode_enhanced (bitfield), vm_contactonly (bitfield),
vmmoderatedcount, and vmunreadcount.
Notification Pausing
Users who remain inactive (defined as no site visits for one year)
will have all email and web-based notifications suspended to reduce
bounce rates, false spam reports, and unnecessary database entries. If
a user returns and updates their password, notifications will be
restored for their active subscriptions. Subscriptions during the
inactive period will not exist or be restored. This feature may be
disabled by deactivating "Expire Passwords for Inactive Users" in
Settings → Options → User Registration.
Automatically Remove Featured Topic Flag
Administrators may now add Channel Tasks to automatically remove the
Featured Topic designation after XX days from the date of topic
creation. This setting is accessible via the AdminCP under Channel
Management → Channel Tasks. The calculation is based on the topic
creation date, as vBulletin does not record the timestamp when a topic
is marked as featured.
Additional Issues
Eliminated duplicate extensions from email logs.
Content Slider links now direct to the specific node rather than the topic starter.
The "Go To New Post" function on new topics now correctly displays the topic starter.
Refined the priority-based display of user ranks.
Resolved an issue with automated site map generation via Scheduled Tasks.
Updated installation and upgrade wizards to reflect versioning and code enhancements.
Deprecations
With the release of PHP 8.6 and PHP 8.2 reaching End of Life, we will be deprecating support for PHP 8.2.X. Future versions of vBulletin are not guaranteed to run on PHP 8.2. Please upgrade your servers.
The Legacy PHP and Legacy SMTP settings for outgoing email are now considered deprecated. We will be removing these settings in the near future. Please update to the newer Email or SMTP classes available in the AdminCP under Settings → Email Manager. Cloud Customers do not need to worry about this change. We will update your systems automatically.
The developers will remove the Worldpay payment gateway in a future version of the software. This system is out of date and will no longer be supported.
